Barcelona

11th June - 14th June

Barcelona, the fashion Neverland where fashions never die. You name it.......from the girl in Doc Martin's and a tie dye t-shirt to the fellas with MC Hammer pants.....it's all here. Punks, Skaters, Hippies, Rastas and the ubiquitous Goths are all represented and the mullets here would put any trailer park to shame. And lets not leave out the "Rat Tail" which is still going strong in these parts......

We're only sorry we didn't have the means to document the cultural time warp that has a hold on this city. Unfortunately, the below picture is the only one we have in Barcelona (courtesy of the photo shop guy who sold us our camera). Guess it sums it up pretty well...

To better see this wonderful city, we decided to book a scooter. What a ride and worth every penny! We saw all the highlights and lowlights of Barcelona and didn’t have to walk a single block. Unfortunately, we were unable to take a single picture of the curves and mosaic magic of Gaudi (thanks to the Sahara desert) but here are a few shots that we picked up off the internet. Yeah, I know it’s lame but you’ve got to see it for yourself if you’re a Gaudi virgin.

Gorgeous. I love Gaudi. Oh, and the turban waving is very inspired.

Miss you guys!

You forgot to mention body piercing and tatoos. We thought Barcelona was the body piercing capital of the world. Did you get to Boqueria--my favorite place in Barcelona (a market, of course!). You both look wonderful and the pictures are great--did you really take the camel leg shadows picture? It's really beautiful. What happened to your camera in the Sahara?

The Paradores we stayed in were usually great--if expensive. Yours looks lovely.

Take care. I look forward to following more of your trip.

Gaudi fun fest. Parc Guell is among my favorite places that i've visited in Europe... If you're still in or about Barcelona try to schedule a trip to Fuertes (about a 2 hour train ride from Barcelona) wherein you can visit the Dali Museum... totally worth the trip. IF your heading further down south in Spain maybe check out (if you haven't already...) Tarifa, the southern most point on continenal europe and the "windsurfing captial" of the world.. suuuuuuuuuure ... can catch a quick boat (and some good smokes) to Morocco (which is visible on a clear day) ... could get Tom back to British soil with the Rock being but a close bus ride away.... Anyway.. really good to hear from you guys. I'm a little jealous to tell you the truth... i'll just have to deal and enjoy your photos. talk soon
